Courses Offered

Karimganj Law College, at present, is conducting a three-year professional law course leading to the degree of LL.B. on successful completion of the course. The course, on successful completion, offers a professional graduation degree empowering the degree holder the right to practice as an advocate in any courts in India on completion of other formalities besides a host of other attractive career options.

Academic Structure :

The LL.B. [Three Year] course is a semester system curriculum and therefore, for this course of study we have a total of thirty papers divided equally among six semesters. The academic activities for the course curriculum are conducted in ODD-EVEN semester mode usually of the following six months duration:

  • Odd Semesters [i. e. First, Third and Fifth semesters] from July to December
  • Even Semesters: [i. e. Second, Fourth, and Sixth Semester] from January to June
Course Structure :

As mentioned earlier LL.B. course curriculum has a total of thirty papers divided equally among the six semesters. Therefore, each of the semesters has to conduct academic activities on five papers. Each paper has 100 marks each totaling 500 marks per semester. The 100 hundred marks of each paper have again been divided as follows:

  • 30 marks for internal Assessment by the college and
  • 70 marks for the Semester-end Written Examination

The above stated 30 marks for internal examination is subdivided into Written Class Tests, Assignment: Write-up and Oral Presentation, and Sincerity. This Internal Assessment for each paper is done by the subject teacher of that paper and moderated by the Principal.

For the External Examination carrying 70 marks the college has for its own student its Center of Examination and the affiliating university appoints one External Examination for each semester-end examination and the Principal of the Karimganj Law College acts as Center-in-charge.

The syllabus of each paper is divided among five units and each unit carries 14 [fourteen] marks for the external Examination. From each unit, two questions are asked and the candidates have to opt for only one question to answer from each unit.
