The Regulators
The Bar Council of India [B.C.I.] is the statutory regulator of legal education in India. It prescribes the subjects of study and determines the academic and infrastructural requirements for recognition of professional degree. It sets the standard of professional education of law and conducts visits of legal educational institutions in India and ensures the facilities for the purpose of approval of legal educational institutions. It conducts inspection of the legal educational institutions against inspection fess of three lakh rupees for each inspection and requires the fulfilment of recommendations. In this process. the professional standard of any institution of legal education is ensured by the Bar Council of India which and extends it approval periodically.
The university to which any institution of legal education is affiliated also plays a very significant regulatory authority. The academic activities of any institution of legal education is recognized monitored and get conducted by the affiliating university, which in the case of Karimganj Law College is Assam University, Silchar. Assam University also conducts inspections of the college periodically to ascertain the academic standard of the education being conferred by the institution. The College authority has to conduct its administrative as well as academic activities by conforming to the rules and recommendations of both the regulatory authorities. The college authority is very sincere in conforming to the rules and recommendations of the regulatory authority.
