Management

The executive functions of Karimganj Law college has been being discharged by the Steering Committee since its inception. Earlier the committee was constituted with selected members from the public. As per the recommendations of the Bar Council of India, the compositions power functions, term of office were modified time to time. The rules regarding affiliation under Assam University, Silchar states that the authority discharging the executive function of the college must mandatorily be registered and such registration must either be as a trust or Society, in case of Non-Government Colleges, as per the relevant law in this regard. To comply this requirement, recently, the Steering Committee of Karimganj Law has been brought under the umbrella of Karimganj Law College Management & Development Society, a society formed as per the Societies Registration Act, 1861.

Karimganj Law College is being managed by a society namely Karimganj Law College Management and Development Society through its executive authority that is Steering Committee. Any person from the public who desires to contribute to the cause of legal education have a chance to participate in the mission of the institution. Such enthusiastic public may take membership of the management and development society of the college and take part in the process of nomination of the executive authority of the college. The Society has five objectives behind its formation:

  • To strive to establish Karimganj Law College to a well-managed institution of legal education.
  • To strive to develop Karimganj Law College as a state-of-the-art institution of legal education in terms of infrastructure and quality of education.
  • To acquire and manage property necessary to develop infrastructure for the purpose of extension of its activities of the institution.
  • To perform all responsibilities as legal guardian of Karimganj Law College so far and so long the appropriate government does not take up the guardianship responsibilities of the college.
  • To strive to create, generate and maintain funds necessary to finance the above objectives of the society.

The membership of the society is open to any citizen of India having good reputation of sound mind who has attained at least 25 years of age. The members must subscribe to the objectives of the society stated above and abide by all the rules of the society and support all executive decision of the society.
